Representatives of the National Football Leakgue and its players held their longest bargaining session to date Sunday, with the players’ union promising to submit a new contract proposal Tuesday.
Bargaining teams met for 6 1/2 hours in Washington, negotiating for a contract to avert a Sept. 22 players’ strike.
Union executive director Gene Upshaw said Tuesday’s proposal “will go a long way in the direction of a settlement.”
