Carl Karcher Enterprises posted a $5.5-million profit in the second quarter ended Aug. 10, more than three times the $1.5 million earned in last year’s second quarter. Revenue rose 15% to $87.6 million. The Anaheim-based owner and franchiser of 436 Carl’s Jr. restaurants said the most recent quarter included $1.5 million in tax benefits. For the first six months of 1987, Karcher reported earnings of $9.7 million, more than four times what it earned in the same period last year.
