A “chronology of Libyan terrorism” was issued by the United States in response to a Libyan report at the United Nations denouncing Washington for the April, 1986, bombing of Tripoli and Benghazi. The U.S. statement said that Libya in 1980 began a campaign to assassinate exiled opponents of Col. Moammar Kadafi, and it also cited evidence linking Libya to the April, 1986, bombing of a West Berlin disco that left two Americans dead. The Berlin incident preceded the U.S. air attack on Libya by about 10 days.
