El Toro--No. 1 Last Year--Is on Top of Top 10 Poll Again

El Toro High School’s football team has picked up in the 1987 season where it left off last year in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep poll.
The Chargers opened with an impressive 34-14 victory over Tustin to earn five first-place votes and the No. 1 ranking. They finished as the top-ranked team last year.
Rival Capistrano Valley opened with a 31-0 victory over Foothill and earned two first-place votes to finish second. Mission Viejo was ranked eighth, giving the South Coast League three teams in the top 10.
