Inspiration Point Project Advances

The winning design for the Inspiration Point project in Corona del Mar received a tentative go-ahead--pending final design and cost details--by the Newport Beach City Council on Tuesday.
City Council members agreed to place a $25,000 budget award on the agenda of their Sept. 28 session. The money, raised from the Arts Commission’s annual Salute to the Arts, would be used for preliminary geological work on the coastal bluff site. Results from this structural analysis will determine the final form of the Cunningham Design project as well as more precise cost estimates.
According to Arts Commissioner Ken Delano, this process will take from 60 to 90 days, after which the project will be submitted to the council for final approval.
