The Papal Visit : First Lady, Pope Will Meet Today
- Share via
An hour after Pope John Paul II’s jetliner touched down in Los Angeles, First Lady Nancy Reagan arrived to prepare for her meeting today with the pontiff.
Mrs. Reagan declined to speak with reporters Tuesday morning at Los Angeles International Airport, where an hour earlier the Pope had flown in on his airliner, dubbed Shepherd 1.
Mrs. Reagan will meet with the Pope this afternoon at Immaculate Conception School. She and the President had met with him upon his arrival in Miami last week.
The First Lady was taken from the airport in a black limousine that headed a 10-car convoy to the Century Plaza, where she is staying.
