Lawyer ‘Walks’ Across Channel

DOVER, England — California lawyer Dan Hodes walked across the English Channel today, his feet supported by miniature kayaks called skijaks, the Channel Swimming Assn. said.
The 32-year-old Corona del Mar attorney crossed the 21-mile strait between England to France in about six hours. He had expected the trip to take around 10 hours. Hodes said he is the first American and only the second person to cross the channel on 11-foot-long plastic foot-floats.
