ELIZABETH, Colo. — Carbon monoxide leaked into a school bus carrying about 40 youngsters to school today, and the bus driver and about two dozen children were overcome by the fumes, authorities said.
Bus driver Donna Wolf, 25, and an 11-year-old girl were in critical condition at St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, officials said. Three other girls--two 11-year-olds and a 7-year-old--also were being treated at the hospital, where they were in serious but stable condition. In all, between 20 and 25 children were treated at clinics because of the fumes, authorities said.
