Tropical Storm Heading West but May Lose Steam

MIAMI — A tropical storm headed west from the mid-Atlantic on Tuesday, while a poorly formed tropical depression farther west fizzled to a tropical wave, forecasters said. The tropical storm, with winds of 40 m.p.h., was expected to diminish at sea before hitting land, forecasters said.
