Sims Bids for State Super Lightweight Title

Walter Sims (22-4-2, 15 knockouts) of North Hollywood will face champion John Montes for the state super lightweight title in tonight’s 12-round main event at the Spruce Goose in Long Beach.
Montes (34-4, 25 knockouts) of Anaheim won the state title in June with a 12-round decision over Eric Martin in Irvine.
Pulga Franco of Van Nuys will make his pro debut against Fernando Garcia (0-1) of Los Angeles in a super bantamweight bout. Preliminary bouts begin at 7:30.
