Monthly pro boxing returns to the Spruce...

Monthly pro boxing returns to the Spruce Goose Dome tonight at Long Beach with a 12-round California super-lightweight title fight between champion John Montes of Anaheim and Walter Sims of Van Nuys.

Montes (34-4) has won his last five fights. Three of his defeats have come at the hands of Hector (Macho) Camacho, Cornelius Boza Edwards and Hilmar Kenty. Sims (22-4-2) was runner-up in the Forum’s lightweight tournament earlier this year.

Other bouts include Kadsimi Komiyama of Tokyo vs. Rogelio Martinez of Los Angeles, featherweights, in a six-round semifinal; and Thor Jenkins, Long Beach, vs. Sim Warrior, Los Angeles, heavyweights, in the top prelim bout.

The first fight begins at 7:30 p.m.
