Mater Dei’s Hopkins to Attend Syracuse

Mike Hopkins, a 6-foot 4-inch senior guard at Mater Dei High School, has made a verbal commitment to attend Syracuse University next fall.

Hopkins missed 16 games last season with a stress fracture in his right ankle but drew national attention over the summer when he played well in the Nike Camp at Princeton University.

Hopkins, who has maintained a 2.8 grade-point average, is rated an excellent outside shooter and had 10 home visits scheduled with major colleges. He visited Syracuse last weekend and then made his decision.
