Chris Sandle, a University of Texas El Paso basketball forward, has been suspended for at least seven games because of a barroom brawl, Coach Don Haskins said.
Sandle will not be allowed to play this semester, Haskins said.
“At the semester break, this case will be reviewed in regards to class attendance, grades, conduct and attitude,” he said.
The coach added that another Miner basketball player involved in the brawl, guard-forward Chris Blocker, is being disciplined, but declined to be more specific.
The fight early Sunday morning at an El Paso nightclub resulted in Sandle’s second arrest in less than a year. Last Nov. 16, he was charged with shoplifting $16.66 worth of groceries. He did not contest the charge and was fined $85.
