The South Bay Hospital District board has approved a $338,302 budget for the fourth year of a coordinated school health program in school districts in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, the cities served by the district. Administered by Hospital Home Health Care Agency of California, the programs provide nurses, health aides, screenings, counseling, teacher training and health fairs.
The board also awarded $50,000 to South Bay Union High School to continue its Best Defense mental health program, which includes drug abuse prevention, peer counseling and referral of troubled students to other programs in the community.
