Tri-Star Pictures reported sharply lower second-quarter profit, citing a decline in earnings from its motion picture operations. For the three months ended Aug. 31, the New York-based entertainment company posted net income of $1 million, down 83%. Revenue totaled $113 million, up 35% from 1986. The company noted that its Loews Theatre chain and Tri-Star television operations both posted improved results.
