Anaheim : Worker Admits Guilt in Kickback Scheme

An Anaheim man Wednesday pleaded guilty to accepting about $17,000 in kickbacks from subcontractors supplying parts for U.S. military jet fighters.
From September, 1983, to October, 1984, Donald Allan Brewer, 56, a former purchasing supervisor for Parker Hannifin Corp.’s Aerospace Group in Irvine, authorized $4 million worth of purchases from several vendors, according to court records. He was charged in federal court with accepting kickbacks from the companies in exchange for placing orders with them.
The vendors were selling parts for the Air Force’s F-15 Eagle and the Navy’s F-18 Hornet, the indictment said.
Originally charged with 32 counts, Brewer pleaded guilty to two counts of mail fraud and two counts of filing false tax returns for 1983 and 1984.
U.S. District Judge Ferdinand F. Fernandez scheduled a Nov. 2 sentencing hearing. Brewer faces up to 16 years in prison and a maximum fine of $352,000.
