Advertising by the NRA

As a Times subscriber, I thought you no longer accepted obscene advertisements.
How then do you explain the ad placed by the NRA?
In my opinion the ad is obscene and the cause it promotes is worse.
The victim, who had obviously been surprised and attacked by two hoodlums, would never have had time to use his gun. Instead, the hoods would have taken it from him and possibly killed him with his own gun, which so often happens in real life.
You are carrying freedom of the press too far.
