A driver suspected of being drunk crashed his car into a vehicle carrying the son and grandson of Los Angeles County Sheriff Sherman Block, then drove away and struck another car, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
Matthew Block, 8, was slightly injured in the 4 p.m. accident Wednesday at Winnetka Avenue and Parthenia Street. The boy’s father, Barry Block, 39, was not injured.
Police Sgt. Robert Farkas said a car driven on Winnetka by Moses Chavez, 46, of Northridge ran a red light and hit the Blocks’ eastbound car. Farkas said Chavez drove away from the accident, heading west on Parthenia, before crashing into another car nearly a mile away. The driver of that car suffered minor injuries.
Farkas said Chavez was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and hit-and-run driving.
