Local News in Brief : Flat Tire Overturns Van, Kills Driver, 49

A Los Angeles man was killed when a blown tire sent his van spinning out of control Wednesday afternoon on the Antelope Valley Freeway in Canyon Country, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred as Charles A. Robertson, 49, was southbound at a speed estimated at 75 m.p.h., CHP Officer Rod Beadles said.
Robertson’s van spun out, overturned as it crossed the center divider and skidded across the northbound lanes before landing in a gully, Beadles said.
Robertson was not wearing a seat belt when the 3:30 p.m. accident threw him from the van, officers said.
