A woman and four girls were injured when a pickup truck plowed through a school bus stop in the desert near Phelan, the California Highway Patrol reported. CHP officers in Victorville said Richard Wayne Negley, 35, of Glendora, apparently was trying to pass a car waiting to make a left turn at an intersection on two-lane Phelan Road about five miles east of the town when he lost control. The woman, Zen Sorenson, whose age was not known, was reported in critical condition at San Bernardino County Medical Center. Tanya Dyer, 9, was in serious condition at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster. Laura Worley, 8, and Michelle Larken, 10, were transferred from Victor Valley Community Hospital to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana with broken right thigh bones. Michelle’s sister, Jennifer Larken, 8, was in fair condition at San Bernardino County Medical Center, officials said.
