Suspected Sikh extremists sprayed automatic rifle fire into a crowded bazaar in Punjab state, killing six Hindus and wounding seven other people, Indian police said. The attack in a downtrodden Hindu neighborhood in Amritsar came hours after three alleged Sikh radicals were reported shot to death by police near the city, the home of the Sikhs’ Golden Temple. More than 25 suspected Sikh radicals have been killed by police in Punjab in a month. The Sikhs are fighting for a separate homeland.
