Building Falls; 39 Die

BEIJING — Thirty-nine laborers died when a three-story building they were constructing collapsed at Yuangjing county in China’s central province of Hunan, state radio and television news said Thursday. The building toppled into a river beside the construction site while the men were asleep, and the sole survivor was found clinging to a log floating in the water.
