THE PAPAL VISIT : Papal Digest : Business Was Terrible but the View Was Great

Darrow Anderson kept his Cigarette Shop in the 200 block of Main Street open during its normal operating hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Pope’s visit--even though none of his regular customers could get through the barricades to buy anything.
“I’m a workaholic,” the 40-year-old businessman explained.
Most of the time, he sat alone in the little wooden shack that is his store and stared at the deserted street.
“I sold to police and the FBI,” he said. On Tuesday, he made $5 and on Wednesday, “zilch.”
But Anderson said he didn’t mind. “I got a chance to see the Pope, when he pulled up in his car. I had a great view.”
