Drawing Name From Hat Resolves Tied Election

SALEM, Conn. — Two Democrats vying to represent their party as a Board of Selectmen candidate waged a traditional campaign, but the outcome came down to the luck of the draw.
Charlene Clancy and Charles Zemko each received 155 votes in Tuesday’s primary. So an election moderator put their names in a straw hat Wednesday, and Zemko won when his name was drawn.
