Temple Aliyah, 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills, has begun construction of its new sanctuary and enlarged social hall. The addition will bring the facility to about 17,000 square feet. The Conservative congregation, which was organized in 1962, has grown to more than 500 families.
The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 13330 Riverside Drive, Sherman Oaks, will close after Sunday’s service. The Rev. Roger Andersen, bishop-elect of the Synod II-B of the New Evangelical Lutheran Church, will give the final sermon at 10 a.m. A reception will follow. The congregation has served the community for 42 years. Pastor Thomas C. Carter said there are plans to reassemble at another location.
