Floods Kill 59 in North India

NEW DELHI — Torrential rains have killed 59 people in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state, the Press Trust of India said Friday.
The news agency reported that rains and flooding had affected 3,000 villages in a wide area around the city of Varanasi in the southeastern part of the state.
