Distance runner Zola Budd has been quietly preparing for a comeback by running under the assumed name “T. Davies” in two events, according to reports in the British media.
Budd, who collided with Mary Decker Slaney in the 1984 Olympics and also has been the target of anti-apartheid demonstrations, plans to run under her own name in a 10-kilometer road race in Northern Ireland today, the reports said. Budd, a 21-year-old naturalized Briton from South Africa, has been sidelined for nearly a year with thigh and hamstring injuries.
