ORANGE COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL : Santiago’s Second-Half Drive Makes Difference in 9-6 Win Over Costa Mesa

Santiago High School put together an 11-play, 86-yard drive to start the second half and defeated Costa Mesa, 9-6, Friday at Orange Coast College.
Running back Rudy Motley caught a pass from quarterback Dana Ripley at the Mustang 20-yard line and ran for the Cavaliers’ first touchdown of the season. The Cavaliers are 1-1.
The Cavalier defense held the Mustangs (1-1) to one first down in the second half.
Costa Mesa scored first, on a 62-yard run by senior running back Terry Bryant behind blocks by Jim Hastie and Robert Dearborn.
Bryant totaled 137 yards on 19 carries. Junior Mustang quarterback Rich Schones left the game with a concussion in the third quarter.
