ORANGE COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL : Nevin’s 3 Fields Goals Lead El Dorado

Phil Nevin kicked three field goals and El Dorado High School blocked three punts Friday night as the Golden Hawks defeated Troy, 30-0, in Fullerton District Stadium.

Nevin connected on kicks of 21, 39 and 28 yards, and Mac Cooper blocked two punts for the El Dorado (2-0), recovering the second in the end zone for the team’s final touchdown.

El Dorado’s defense stopped Troy (0-2), and tailback Chris Olsen and quarterback Kevin Shula led the Golden Hawk offense. Olsen gained 128 yards in 18 carries and scored El Dorado’s first touchdown on a 4-yard run in the first quarter.

Shula completed 9 of 18 passes for 147 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown to wide receiver Chris Facione in the third quarter.

El Dorado had 147 yards passing and 135 rushing for a total of 282.

Troy quarterback Sean Scanlon completed 8 of 25 passes for 81 yards and Mark Stitcher had 35 yards rushing in 7 carries.

The Warriors’ best scoring opportunity came midway through the third period when they moved to the El Dorado 33 before running out of downs.
