Harold Cruse’s review of “Freedom Song” by Mary King (The Book Review, Aug. 2) quotes Mary as saying of the movement, “It was everything; home family food and work, love and a reason to live . . . when we were young and in the South.” These are not Mary King’s words, but mine, from the Preface, and refer to my experience, not Mary’s.
