PROF. HILBURN AND BRUCE’S YELPS
I don’t read Hilburn, but I read the letters.
Let’s get one thing straight. It’s voices like his that have turned rock ‘n’ roll into a parade of pansies. It is not revolutionary anymore. It’s convention in the strictest sense.
Whereas they sang about mind expansion, now they’re pandering addiction; and whereas they rejected fashion, now they’re bending in knee worship to it. This ain’t rock ‘n’ roll, this is bourgeois bull.
There is a crisis at hand, but neither Hilburn nor Bloom have a grip on it. They’re both fools playing the same game from opposite ends.
Art is busy choosing her newest minions, and they’ll be fashioned in a movement completely unique to the world of culture. When it flourishes, it will expose all imitators and hypocrites.
