Faye Dunaway will star in the West Coast stage production of Christopher Hampton’s version of Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses,” the London and Broadway hit exploring decadence in French high society prior to the Revolution.
Plans call for February rehearsals, followed by a March-May run in San Francisco, then L.A., under the aegis of the Nederlander Organization. Dunaway said Kevin Kline is her possible co-star.
“This play has been a passion of mine since I first saw it in London,” she said, citing her fascination with the tension between outward sexual repression and underlying lust that permeates the drama.
Lorimar has optioned the film rights, making Dunaway a contender to star in the film version.
