PHILADELPHIA — A baby born in the hospital founded by Benjamin Franklin during the Constitution’s bicentennial celebration was named Benjamin and his nurse’s name is Betsy Ross, officials said.
The son of Barbara and Ted Zellner was born at 4 p.m. Thursday--about the same time that the Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787.
The baby was born in Pennsylvania Hospital--the first in the country--which was founded by Benjamin Franklin.
However, Benjamin Zellner was not intentionally named after Benjamin Franklin, his parents said.
But that doesn’t matter. Hospital officials said Benjamin’s nurse--Betsy Ross--wasn’t intentionally named for her famous namesake either.
