More than 70,000 people heard 10 hours of country, folk and rock music in Lincoln, Neb., during Farm Aid III, a benefit concert staged by entertainer Willie Nelson for America’s family farmers. The nationally televised portions of the concert, held at the University of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium, also carried a plea for viewers to contribute to Nelson’s Farm Aid Foundation. Nelson, who was once a Texas hog farmer, said that there may not be a Farm Aid IV next year, because, he said, he has grown weary of asking friends to volunteer for the benefit.
