Judiciary Committee Hearings on Judge Robert Bork
- Share via
To add the respectability of an ex-President to the opening of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on the Supreme Court nominee, enter former President Gerald R. Ford with only good things to say about Judge Robert H. Bork.
It has been widely reported that Bork acted at best “questionably” in his firing of the Watergate prosecutor in the “Saturday Night Massacre.” But we should also not forget that Ford, many believe, became President only because of his promise to pardon President Richard M. Nixon.
Not such strange bedfellows, after all!
