Elliott to Compete in Phoenix Race

PHOENIX — Bill Elliott, who won 11 races and a record $2.3 million in 1985, has entered the field for next month’s Checker race here.
It will be the first appearance ever for Elliott at Phoenix International Raceway.
“He’s the fastest stock-car driver on the circuit and I’m estatic that we got him,” said PIR owner Buddy Jobe.
The 100-mile race is scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
