Saturday’s Farm Aid III concert raised $3.3 million, it was announced Monday. After about $1 million is deducted for production costs, the remaining $2.3 million will be designated for financially strapped farmers, a Farm Aid spokesman said. The breakdown: $1.4 million raised in ticket sales; $1 million in donations; $600,000 in advertising sales; $200,000 from a business donation campaign, and $100,000 in merchandise sales. The concert, the spokesman said, “was a tremendous success” for again communicating the farm crisis to the rest of the country.
