‘Bypassing Peace’ in Nicaragua

Let us get one thing straight. My country (Nicaragua) was stolen from peace-loving Nicaraguans by the fraud of the Sandinistas. A promise of democracy was replaced with dictatorship, communism and oppression. Peace-loving Nicaraguans took up arms as contras to fight the Sandinistas.
This is not the “contra war,” it is the Nicaraguan Civil War--a war of resistance against Communists sponsored by the Soviets.
No Sandinista slogans will change the fact that the contras are beginning to win the war, and the Soviet expenditures for the Sandinistas (50 to 1 what we give the contras) look fruitless.
Give Nicaragua truly free elections and the Sandinistas will be out of power. That is why the Sandinistas will never allow free elections. They will attempt to portray themselves as democrats, but the fact is: All the democrats in Nicaragua are with the contras.
