TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The fire that destroyed the Arcadia home of a family that includes three boys exposed to the AIDS virus was arson, a state official ruled today.
But Insurance Commissioner Bill Gunter, in his capacity as state fire marshal, gave no indication of who was suspected of setting the Aug. 28 blaze, which ended a week of community protests of the enrollment of the three boys in public school. The family was not at home at the time of the fire and has since moved away.
