The Chrysler Corp. will sponsor a bonus system for thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, which can earn a horse $5 million by sweeping the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
At the same time, it was announced that ABC Sports has signed a new two-year contract, beginning in 1990, for the extension of the network’s coverage of the Belmont, the finale of the Triple Crown. ABC also televises the Derby and Preakness.
