The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco is $1 million in the red as a result of last week’s visit by Pope John Paul II, officials said. Diocesan officials said the diocese had budgeted $3.2 million for the Pope’s visit, but it was still $1 million short. They said they were forced to seek donations in a second collection Sunday.
