A 16-year-old student died after losing consciousness in a high school swimming pool, a Glendale Unified School District official reported. Hoover High sophomore Danny Kupelian was swimming the fourth and final leg of a 100-yard warm-up swim when he sank, said district spokesman Vic Pallos. The school nurse administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived, but Kupelian was pronounced dead at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Pallos said.
