Navy Jet Crashes; 1 Missing

An A-6E Intruder attack jet crashed into the ocean off Santa Catalina Island on Wednesday night, injuring one crewman and leaving the other missing, a Navy spokeswoman said today.
It was the second crash in less than a week of A-6E jets based at the Whidbey Island, Wash., Naval Air Station. The crash occurred at about 11 p.m. during a routine night training mission near Catalina, a NAS Whidbey civilian spokeswoman said. Identities of the two crew members were withheld.
