The Region : Drive-by Gunman Injures Girl Critically

A 10-year-old girl, whom police did not immediately identify, underwent surgery after she was critically wounded by a gunman who fired 12 shotgun blasts into a crowd at a street corner in South-Central Los Angeles. Southeast Division detectives said the girl, who underwent surgery at Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center, was standing with several other people on the corner of 90th and Main streets when a man drove up in a car, got out and started firing at the group. The man fired a shotgun 12 times, then drove off, detectives said. No one else was hurt in the attack that may have been gang-related, said officers, who did not elaborate.
