The California Assn. of Realtors reported a 2.2% rise in sales of existing single-family homes in August. Statewide, there were 489,478 escrow closings on a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis, up from 478,959 in July. The faster market pace contributed to a 1.6% jump from July in the median sales price, to a record $143,876, the group said.
