Irvine : 30,000 Expected at 3-Day Harvest Festival

More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the three-day Irvine Harvest Festival that gets under way today. The 15th annual affair will feature rides, games and musical entertainment.
The festival, which will be held in a vacant field at Culver and Irvine Center drives in Irvine, will feature 12 rides for adults and eight for children. Jazz, rock and country-western music will be provided at two large stages throughout the day.
Contests will be featured throughout the weekend. Today is Pumkin Decorating, while Saturday will feature Cake Decorating, the Freckle Contest and Puttin’ on the Hits.
Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for senior citizens and children 6 to 16. Children under 6 will be admitted free. The festival is open from 6 p.m. to midnight today; 9 a.m to midnight Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
