Gunmen shot and killed Jose German Mira, leader of the National Postal Workers Assn. of El Salvador, after intercepting his car in an intersection in San Salvador. German Mira’s pregnant wife and a companion were wounded in the attack. A right-wing group called the Nationalist Anti-Communist Command claimed responsibility. A statement from the group found at the scene said that German Mira was partly responsible for the theft of international aid that arrived through the mail for victims of an earthquake in October, 1986.
