Morgan Shepherd compiled 123 yards in total offense and scored the game winning touchdown with 10:36 left in the game to lead Notre Dame High to a 16-13 win over St. Genevieve on Friday night at Notre Dame.
A bad snap kept St. Genevieve from attempting a game-tying field goal with two minutes left in the game.
Shepherd, who rushed 42 yards for the decisive score, completed 5 of 13 passing attempts but was not satisfied with Notre Dame’s performance.
“We’re going to have to play a lot better against some of the good teams,” he said.
St. Genevieve led, 13-9, after a one-yard quarterback sneak by Frank Aguirre six minutes into the third quarter.
Notre Dame’s first touchdown came with 6:20 left in the second quarter on a 34-yard run by senior tailback Jere Deranja.
Mike Rohrbough recovered a fumble and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown early in the first quarter to account for St. Genevieve’s only points in the first half.
