MONSTER POSTERS
NYC classic-poster dealer Jack Rennert is coming West for a major auction Nov. 22 at the Registry, with some heavy-duty pieces--like some 1890s Toulouse-Lautrecs valued in the $40,000 neighborhood.
But he’s also bringing some impressive French, Spanish and American movie posters. Like “My Baby” (1912, Mary Pickford, valued at up to $3,000), a French “Salome” with Theda Bara (1918, $2,500), D. W. Griffith’s “Mother and the Law” (1919, $5,000) and a French “King Kong” (1933, $5,000). Plus other impressive names like Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle, Garbo, Douglas Fairbanks and Buster Keaton. Plus a few moderns like Astaire and Bogart.
