Driver Is Arrested in Car-Crash Death

A Malibu man was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving Saturday after a car crash in which his passenger was killed, the California Highway Patrol said.
Steven A. Screen, 19, was driving south on Malibu Canyon Road, four miles north of the Pacific Coast Highway, when his car slammed into the side of the mountain about 2 a.m., Officer Monty Kiefer said.
John B. Rose, 19, of Salt Lake City was killed when the car hit on the passenger’s side, flipped and skidded 100 feet on its roof, Kiefer said.
Screen was injured and was listed in stable condition at the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center.
